About the Valorant Name Generator
It appears on the scoreboard, in the killfeed, and in every teammate's friends list.
Riot accepts many Unicode letters but not all of them, and the filter is stricter than most mobile games. The practical approach is to test a plainer style first, confirm it saves, then move up to a more decorated one.
Step by step
How to use the Valorant Name Generator
Enter a word or leave it blank, generate ideas, copy the one you like, and paste it into the name field.
Add a word (optional)
Type a word you want in the name, such as your handle or a theme, or leave it blank for fully random ideas.
Generate ideas
Press Generate to get a fresh batch of names. Keep pressing for more: the ideas are different every time.
Copy your favourite
Press Copy on the name you want. It copies with its styling intact.
Paste it in
Paste it into the display name or nickname field. Very tall or heavily decorated names can be shortened by the app, so check how it looks once it is in.
Most games and apps style the display name, not the account login. If a name is rejected, it is usually the login field, which only accepts plain characters.

Tips and common mistakes
Tips
- Start with bold or italic Unicode alphabets: these are from the Mathematical Alphanumeric block, which Riot generally accepts, rather than from decorative symbol ranges, which it is more likely to reject.
- Test the change on a non-essential account first: there is a cooldown between Riot ID changes, and a rejected name on your main account wastes the cooldown window without giving you anything.
- Riot IDs appear at small size in the killfeed; legibility matters. A name that reads clearly at nine or ten pixels on a 1080p screen is more effective than one that only looks good on a profile page.
Common mistakes
- Trying to style the tagline (#XXXXX): Riot only accepts plain alphanumeric characters in the tagline. Save styled characters for the ID name portion before the hash.
- Pasting a name with decorative symbols expecting it to save: Riot's filter rejects symbol-heavy ranges without a helpful error message. If a paste fails, replace symbols with letter-like Unicode first and retest.
- Choosing a name that relies on fine detail to be distinctive: at killfeed scale, subtle glyphs look similar to plain letters. Bold or high-contrast styles stand out more reliably than delicate ones.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change my Riot ID?
Riot IDs are changed from your Riot Account settings on the web, not inside the game. There is a cooldown between changes, so copy the exact name you want and paste it rather than retyping it by hand.
Why does Riot reject some styled names?
Riot validates a Riot ID against an allowed character set and a length limit, and rejects glyph ranges it does not recognise, including many decorative symbols. Styles built from letter-like Unicode ranges succeed far more often than symbol-heavy ones.
Can I style the tagline after the # too?
No. The tagline is restricted to plain alphanumeric characters. Style the name portion and leave the tagline as-is.
My Riot ID is already taken. What can I do?
Style your name or add a symbol: it changes the underlying characters enough to count as a different Riot ID from the plain version someone else holds. If Riot rejects the result, the answer above on why Riot rejects some styled names explains which characters to avoid.
Is the Valorant Name Generator free to use?
Yes. The Valorant Name Generator is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no limits on how much text you convert or how many times you copy it.
