Understanding Urdu fonts
What are Urdu fonts?
Urdu is written in the Arabic script, extended with a few extra letters, and set in a flowing calligraphic style. An Urdu font is a digital typeface that draws those letters and joins them correctly as you type. The script is cursive and context sensitive, so every letter changes shape depending on the letters around it. That is why a good Urdu font is harder to build than a Latin one, and why the best faces are valued so highly.
Two broad styles cover most Urdu typesetting: Nastaleeq and Naskh. Choosing between them is the first decision, so it helps to know what each one is for.
What is Nastaleeq?
Nastaleeq is the traditional style of Urdu. Its lines slope from the top right down to the bottom left, letters sit on a steep diagonal, and words stack in a way that looks handwritten. It is what Urdu newspapers, books and poetry use, and it is the style most readers expect to see. Nastaleeq is demanding to render, so for years the only high quality faces were desktop fonts such as Jameel Noori Nastaleeq. Open web faces have since caught up: Noto Nastaliq Urdu and Gulzar bring proper Nastaleeq to websites.
What is Naskh?
Naskh is the rounder, more even style used across the wider Arabic script. Letters sit on a level baseline and take up less vertical space, which makes Naskh easier to render, easier to read at small sizes, and a natural fit for interfaces and long passages. Amiri, Scheherazade New and Lateef are open Naskh faces that work well for Urdu. Many Urdu readers prefer Nastaleeq for cultural reasons, so Naskh is often a practical choice rather than a first one.
Which Urdu font should I choose?
It depends on what you are setting. This table pairs common needs with a free, open face you can use straight away:

About the Urdu Stylish Name Generator
An ordinary font generator would hand a name like علی حسن straight back unstyled, so this tool wraps it in decorative frames and symbol dividers instead, an approach that respects the script's direction and still pastes correctly into Instagram, WhatsApp or a game profile.
That gap in Unicode is permanent, not a bug this site can fix, which is exactly why framing rather than letter-swapping is the right tool for Urdu. The frame sits around the whole word, so علی حسن decorates just as completely as an English name would.

- Use bracket or star frames for Free Fire and PUBG names: they are the most widely accepted frame types and keep the name short enough for the character limit.
- Add strikethrough or underline to your Urdu text if you want an additional effect beyond framing: both work as combining marks that attach directly to Urdu letters without changing the characters.
- Test your framed name in the Instagram Bio field before putting it in the Name field: the Bio has no strict character limit, while the Name field caps at 30 characters.
Common mistakes
- Expecting bold or italic Urdu letters: Unicode defines no Urdu bold or italic alphabet, so any site claiming to offer one is substituting visually similar characters from a different script.
- Using a heavy multi-symbol frame for a Free Fire or PUBG name: complex frames consume characters fast, and some special characters trigger the game's name-rejection filter.
- Trying to style the @handle on Instagram or Facebook: handles are restricted to Latin letters, numbers, and a few punctuation marks, so Urdu text and decorative frames will be refused.

Can I make my Urdu name bold or italic?
Not by changing the letters, because Unicode has no bold or italic Urdu alphabet to swap them for. What you can do is frame the name with symbols, or add strikethrough and underline, which are the effects that genuinely work on Urdu script. That is what this page does.
Will these Urdu names work on Instagram and Facebook?
Yes, in the Name and Bio fields, which accept any Unicode, so a framed Urdu name pastes straight in. They will not go in an Instagram @username, which is limited to Latin letters, numbers, full stops and underscores.
Do the frames work in Free Fire and PUBG?
Usually. The bracket and star frames near the top of the list are the widely accepted ones and the convention in Free Fire and PUBG lobbies. If a name is rejected, try a simpler two-symbol frame before changing the name itself.
