About the Gothic Font Generator
This page focuses on that one look and its decorated variants, so you are choosing between shades of gothic rather than scrolling past every other style to find it.
The letters are real Unicode from the Mathematical Fraktur block, so a gothic name copies cleanly into a bio, a Discord tag, or a band or gaming handle and shows the same for everyone. Type your text, pick a version, and copy.

Step by step
How to use the Gothic Font Generator
Type your text, pick a style, copy it, and paste it wherever you want gothic text.
Type your text
Type or paste your text into the box at the top of the page. Every style updates live as you type, so you are previewing your own words rather than a sample.
Pick a style
Scroll the list and find a style you like. Use the search box to filter by name, or the "only styles people can still search for" toggle if the text needs to stay findable.
Copy it
Press Copy on that style. The styled text goes to your clipboard exactly as shown, including any spacing or marks.
Paste it
Paste it wherever you need it. Because the styling is built from real Unicode characters, it travels with the text into apps that give you no font settings of their own.

Tips and common mistakes
Tips
- Gothic works best at name length: one to four words in blackletter reads as a deliberate aesthetic choice, while a full sentence in Fraktur slows reading noticeably and can frustrate readers unfamiliar with the letterforms.
- Bold Fraktur holds its shape at small sizes better than the regular weight: on mobile displays, the lighter gothic can thin out and some letters become hard to distinguish from each other.
- Gothic pairs well with communities that lean dark, metal, goth, or medieval: a gaming tag, a band handle, or a role-playing character name reads naturally in the style. It looks incongruous in a professional or brand context.
Common mistakes
- Using gothic for a bio paragraph: Fraktur letters share similar stroke patterns and are slow to read in long runs, which is exactly why it fell out of everyday use as a body text face. Keep it to names and short headings.
- Expecting numbers and most punctuation to adopt the gothic look: the Fraktur block only covers letters, so digits and punctuation come through in their normal shape.
- Using gothic in a context where legibility matters: a gaming username that other players read in a split second during a match, a customer service handle, or a navigation label are all places where readability outweighs aesthetic.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between gothic, blackletter, and Old English text?
They mostly name the same family: a dense, angular medieval script. "Blackletter" is the typographer's term for it, "Old English" is the everyday name, and Fraktur is one specific branch that Unicode happens to encode. The styles on this page are all that family, so the differences you pick between here are weight and decoration rather than a genuinely different alphabet.
Will gothic text work in my username or bio?
In any field that accepts Unicode, which covers most display names and bios, yes. It will not work in an ASCII-only @handle, where only plain letters, numbers and a dot or underscore are allowed. Because the styling is built from standard characters rather than an installed font, it pastes in and displays the same for whoever sees it.
Why do numbers and some symbols stay plain in gothic text?
The Fraktur block in Unicode only covers the letters A to Z, so digits and most punctuation have no gothic form and come through unchanged. That is a limit of what Unicode assigns rather than a fault in the tool: a number drawn in a fake gothic shape would be some unrelated, poorly-supported character that many devices would show as a box.
Is the Gothic Font Generator free to use?
Yes. The Gothic Font Generator is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no limits on how much text you convert or how many times you copy it.
